Spring Fogs and Visitors

The fog comes

on little cat feet.

It sits looking

over harbor and city

on silent haunches

and then moves on.

–Carl Sandburg

A few weeks ago my dad and sis came for a visit.

Unfortunately for them the weather was atrocious (drizzling/sleeting/cold) almost the entire time.

Although the weather did make it possible for my dad to take the above picture of the Hancock Tower obscured by fog, so…you win some, you lose some.

We visited the Museum of Fine Arts and pretended to be mummies. We also admired these infinite bottles.

We checked out the Old North Church and saw where the guy who lit the lantern for Paul Revere jumped out the window to escape the redcoats.

We checked out the Old North Bridge. Because all the rain had swelled the river completely out of its banks, we couldn’t make it across the bridge to the Visitors’ Center.

We sampled the cupcakes at Sweet in Cambridge (Merrie’s favorite part of the trip, I think).

And we got chocolates at our favorite, Burdick’s in Harvard Square.

(Dad is in this one! Since he was the photographer, most of the pictures don’t feature him.)

Oh yes, and Lucy popped the air mattress. Again.
