Belated Holidaze

We played board games at the Terrace.

And walked home in the snow.

We visited the Capitol tree, pre-Scott Walker craziness.

We posed.

We made lefse.

We rocked it.

We cut things down and hauled them home.

We sparkled.

Just booked a Bed and Breakfast for Spring Break in Key West. This will be my first proper vacation in ages. So excited! In honor of our upcoming beach time I’m going to post some photos from previous sunny idylls.

I haven’t had caffeine in months.

I haven’t had chocolate, cheese or alcohol for twenty three days.

Any guesses which one of these things was the hardest to give up?

The New Year

I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. January and February are dreary months for me…I just feel like hibernating. Maybe I need more Vitamin D, maybe (probably) I need more exercise, but whatever it is, this time of year is such a bummer! So my New Year’s resolution is simply to try to make the end of winter as enjoyable as possible and to try to avoid wishing away the days.

One thing that will probably help is the Nor’easter we’re supposed to get tomorrow. Nothing like a foot of snow to make winter fun again. I haven’t made snow angels yet this year, but that may have to change.

Back in Boston

On a recent, lovely Saturday afternoon, Graham and I rambled around Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. This isn’t just any cemetery; it’s historic, beautifully landscaped, and has a lovely view of Boston.

Strange, Sagrada Familia-esque chapel in the cemetery.

Strange, Egypt-inspired monument.

Strange botany. Hydrangeas blooming in October? Graham was astounded.

Not-strange view of Boston. Beautiful.

Clearly, my dedication to historical plaques has caught on.
